Description
Nothing like doing street photography at the boat docks. I caught this man working on his boat as a storm brewed. Parris Island is in the background. Most everybody jokes about what they would do if they won the lottery...I found out my favorite shrimp boat dock, packing company, sales, the works is for sale for $3 million. That is what I would have if I won the lottery..of course, I better start buying a ticket now and then:)
I love the shrimpers and the boats and visit several regularly. They are getting used to me now and don't do that posing thing..thank goodness. This was taken at the Port Royal Marina Dock, next to Dockside Restaurant which is a great place to eat by the way. There are about two dozen shrimpboats there on any given day and they come in all sizes. See the next image for a photograph of one of the smaller shrimpboats, many times called the mosquito fleet.
If you are visiting Beaufort, perhaps attending a Marine Corps graduation, make sure to visit one of the shrimp boat docks in the area. There are no shrimpboats at the downtown marina, in Henry Chambers Park. You may see a cruise ship occasionally or a tugboat as a great surprise and there is usually a Shrimpboat on display during Water Festival.

You have some stunning work here Patricia! I think I like this one best of your "working men series" captures! Such a great job of captures that tell a story-- with marvelous expression and detailed elements! V /PAMELA

Thank you. I appreciate it. It's what I try to do. Tell a story without using words, although I want to. I am compelled to tell the stories of the low country.

Love the study as if he is alive in front of me. Cigarette hanging from the mouth. I am just waiting for the hands to move. He has my walking shoes on as well. Tool belt well placed on the hips. A big L/F from me and you better buy those lotto tickets. Sandy
