Description
There is an incredible building in Beaufort, the old jail which is in the Art Deco style. It hasn't been used for years and if you step out onto the street you can look right out at the bay in the Beaufort River. I have climbed the stairs and walked around this building many times, being creeped out. Wondering how awful it would have been to be locked in this concrete and steel building when it was in operation long ago with no air conditioning. I wish it would be restored because it is fascinating and part of the history of this area of mind boggling beauty and terrible incredibly awful heat. I love Beaufort and even this old jail has a beauty of it's own, a terrible fascinating beauty.

Great find - I love the fact that the simplicity of the subject, composition and palette really lets the textures star.

Thanks all for the wonderful comments. This is one of my favorite images. I think it has meaning for everyone trapped inside something, and many times out own heads:) I am honored to have it featured in Women Photographers and Art Brut or Outsider Art. This pleases me greatly.
